Full Force

Amerikanische R&B- und Funk-Formation, gegründet 1979 in Brooklyn, New York City, von Paul Anthony George und Lucien "Bow-Legged Lou" George Jr. (vcl), Curtis "T-T" Bedeau (g), Gerard "Baby Gee" Charles (key), Hugh "Shy Shy" Clarke (e-b) und Brian "B-Fine" George (dm). B-Fine, Paul Anthony und Bow-Legged Lou sind Brüder, Shy Shy, Baby Gerry und Curt-T-T sind Cousins.

Das Debutalbum hiess wie die Band "Full Force" (Columbia, 1985) und kam auf Platz 160 der Billboard 200 sowie auf Platz 29 bei den US-R&B-Alben. Der Zweitling "Full Force Get Busy 1 Time" (Columbia, 1986) bewegte sich in den selben Charts-Gefilden. Dazwischen war ein gemeinsames Album mit Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam (Columbia, 1985) erschienen.

 

"Guess Who's Comin' To The Crib?" (Columbia, 1987) war das dritte eigene Album, das chartsmässig ähnlich mittelmässig abschnitt wie seine beiden Vorgänger. Als nächstes ging Full Force mit James Brown ins Studio um "I'm Real" (Scotti Bros., 1988) einzuspielen.

 

"Smoove" (Columbia, 1989), "Don't Sleep!" (Capitol, 1992), "Sugar On Top" (Caliber, 1995), "Still Standing" (TVT, 2001), "Full Force, of Course" (Earforce, 2009) und "With Love From Our Friends" (Full Force, 2014) waren neben mehreren Compilations und einer Vielzahl von Singles und EPs weitere Alben der Band.

 

Nach 2014 erschienen keine Aufnahmen mehr. Dazu waren die Full Force-Musiker auch als Songschreiber bzw. als Produzenten tätig, so für UTFO, Doctor Ice, Samantha Fox, Patti LaBelle, Jasmine Guy, The Force M.D.s, The Ex Girlfriend, Britney Spears, James Brown, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, La Toya Jackson und Selena.

 

Ihr grösster Hit war die Nummer-5-Single Single "All I Have To Give" für die Backstreet Boys, die vom Debutalbum "Backstreet Boys" (Jive, 1996) stammte. Full Force war zudem für die Backingvocals auf zwei Songs des Albums "Infidels" (Columbia, 1983) von Bob Dylan verantwortlicht.          10/24
