The Budos Band

Amerikanische Instrumental-Soul- und Funkformation, gegründet 2005 in Staten Island, New York, im Umfeld des Retrosoul-Labels "Daptone" und seiner vielen Bands. Auf dem Debutalbum "The Budos Band" (Daptone, 2005) bestand die Gruppe aus Neal Sugarman (ts) von Sugarman 3, Jared Tankel (bars), Daisy Sugarman (fl), Andrew Greene (tp), Michael Irwin (tp) sowie Tommy Brenneck (g) von der Menahan Street Band und Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings.

Dazu kamen Bosco Mann (g, cowbells, congas), Mike Deller (org), Daniel Foder (e-b), Duke Amayo (congas), Rob Lombardo (congas, bongos), Dame Rodriguez (cowbell, claves, tambourine), Johnny Griggs (cabasa), Vincent Balestrino (shekere), Brian Profilio (dm) und John Carbonella Jr. (dm, congas). Von der Band erschienen mehrere 7"-Singles und die Alben "The Budos Band II" (Daptone, 2007) und "The Budos Band III" (Daptone, 2010).

Das dritte Album trug den Titel "Burnt Offering" (Daptone, 2014). Danach kamen nur noch 7"-Singles heraus. Eine einseitig bespielte 12"-EP hiess "The Shape of Mayhem To Come" (Daptone, 2016) und enthielt Live-Aufnahmen vom Herbst 2015. Mit den beiden Alben "V" (Daptone, 2019) und "Long In The Tooth" (Daptone, 2020) meldete sich das Ensemble zurück.
